At SLEE tool design & fabrication is done in-house. Based on component design (size, shape & thickness) the blank sizes are determined. Followed by which the required number of draw operations along with heat treatments and various forming processes are deviced in-house. The tool development is done by in-house tool & die makers. Draw tool materials are selected based on the required finish of the component, such as graded cast iron, aluminum bronze, phosphor bronze, alloy steel with hard chromium plating etc. Heat treatments are performed using induction furnaces or flame annealing.

The forming techniques that can be performed at SLEE are trimming, beading/curling, bottom piercing, bulging, necking, nosing, notching, rib forming, side piercing, marking (monogram embossing), punching, spinning, blanking, flattening, seaming, flanging, curling, dimpling.

Through our expert tooling capabilities we have resolved many challenges that our customers have presented to us. Noted tool design & fabrication over the years include for tapered components, eccentric jars, deep drawn press fit components, double walled assemblies etc. We work closely with our customers to develop the component to their satisfaction in a timely fashion.

We have an expert team where our tool & die makers follow the apprentice-journeyman-master approach. As well our machine operators have job rotations for cross training and to support quality, productivity & continuous improvement initiatives. We have also developed over the years, special purpose machines & lubrication to facilitate deep drawing, as well as developed special jigs & fixtures, & fool proof methods for GD&T. We also have production control & stage-wise material wastage tracking system for our operations. Our processes have resulted in the lowest material wastage in the business. We have very minimum part rejection rates & have good reputation with customers.
